How to choose Hotels in Bali?
Bali is the land of hotels as well as temples. This island of a 100 sq.km. hosts a number of hotels for the budget conscious or for a 5 Star Luxury experience. Read on to know all about Bali Hotels. There is no dearth of both categories it really depend s on your budget and preference. I will be going through some of our favourites later in the post. The main areas one can stay in Bali are Seminyak, Ubud, Candidasa, Pemutaran, Nusa Dua and Ahmed. Each location gives you a unique insight into the island’s culture and the diversity present in such a small area of the world.
They also range in different room categories and types, from beach resorts, to cliff resorts with small beaches accessible by the guests of the property, to the luxury beach resorts in Nusa Dua. The rooms also can be categorised at different levels from the basic superior room to Pool Villas. The most sought after category of room is the Villa category as Bali the whole stay concept of the locals is to live in open air villas. These generally have an open first floor living room and kitchen area with bedrooms on the top floor. Some hotels also have Butler service as part of the experience.
Some of the best Villa Hotels can be found in Ubud as the lush green landscape is ideal for the isolation one looks for when taking such accommodation.
Seminyak is at the end of the long Prominade that starts at the Airport in Kuta and includes Kuta-Legian, Legian and ends in Seminyak. The street is full of bars, shops and restaurants open throughout the day. Seminyak is also the place where you will find some of the beach beach clubs on the island, stroll into the amazing Potato Head or the stylish Ku De Ta. The best location for hotels would be any hotel within walking distance of a restaurant called “The Junction”. The idea would be to stay as close to the main street as you can. Party and eat all day. A Short walk back to your hotel for the night. It also helps as this area can get quite a lot of traffic during the evening, and walking can be extremely fast and convenient.
Nusa Dua, Uluwatu & Jimbaran
Beach time and chill. The beaches down south are part of the quieter parts of the Island. Nusa Dua, an island on it’s own, has some of the best 5 star hotels on the Island. All the properties are over looking the sea and some even have private beaches below the cliff faces. This area has very few shopping areas or market areas, which tend to shut down post 10-11pm at night. If you want a quiet vacation with 5 star luxury right on the beach, this is the place for you. The nearby beach of Jimbaran is also home to a number of Ultra Luxury properties like the Ayana Resort and the Four Seasons Jimbaran Bay.
Culture, arts & crafts and peace can be found in the interiors of Ubud. Find small eateries, explore the north of the island with your well appointed hotel in Ubud as your base. Visit the palace, or the art galleries in the area, grab a bite at some of the famous local restaurants. Catch a yoga class by the rice fields. Do it all in Ubud the cultural heart of Bali! Visit Kintamani and the large volcano and lake Batur, or head east and snorkel at Tulamben with a lunch at Bali Asli. Head north to the beaches of Lovina and Menjengan island.
